Ford AV needed a complete overhaul of their corporate website to keep up with the demands of Marketing’s online content generation. There was no content management in place and projects were created as individual pages. In addition to needing the ability to create different relational content types that could be categorized and tagged, they needed an update to the look and feel of their website.
My process began with initial meetings with Marketing about what content they would be creating and then drawing up an outline for the admin/content creation side of website. With this outline, I began developing the custom post types, taxonomies, and custom metaboxes using PHP and WordPress functions/API. Once the admin side was in place, I began creating initial wireframes and moving on to the design in Adobe Illustrator. Once approved, the custom WordPress theme was built.
The Ford AV website was launched and presented at their biannual national sales training conference in April 2017. With content management correctly in place, marketing can now easily add projects, videos, blog posts, and other corporate marketing materials. It has been well-received by the company, especially the sales team due to the ease of searching projects by industry and solution.
